ADULT BRACHIAL PLEXUS PALSIES

Unlike birth brachial plexus palsy , these injuries are high velocity injuries. Functional recovery depends on the severity of the injuries. Few patients will have good functional return after a waiting period of three months. Others will need surgical procedures to promote the assisting function oh the hand which may be nerve exploration, nerve repairs, nerve transfers or free functioning muscle transfers or tendon transfers.
